I believe for this to be effective all teachers will need to know the processes of college referral and how to handle diverse students. As a student in college I don't believe colleges prepare teachers in general education programs to be able to give students proper advice. It would require a lot of extra time to attend conferences that will better prepare teachers to help students. I sort of have that position now here in Texas.  I am the lead content teacher for a high school.  I teach 3 classes a day, one for planning and 3 for working with the other social studies teachers.  My job is to focus on curriculum and instruction along with mentoring the other teachers.  The district I work for has invested a lot of money in this program.
