However, I'll comment about free public education. Your premise, I believe, is one of the mose prevalent problems. However, what most people don't realize is free isn't always free. We are all spending many more tax dollars on education that we need to often for inefficient strategies, resources, and people.

If Mr. Manning was bored when he was in class can you imagine how glazed over he would be with many of the things we are required to do in our classrooms today?

Your description of kindergarten matches almost perfectly with my brother's experience of kindergarten. But there definitely can be an ideal situation where teaching to the test somehow gets the teaching done. It's like there's a goal in mind and you just have to find creative ways to reach that goal.

I agree with your candid observations. When I was in Elementary school, I was constantly led out of class "to be tested". I was as class clown. But looking back, I was bored with the presentation of the material. Gtreat post and nice to have your site on my Blogroll!
